Malminkartano Urban Farming Course

We are organizing an urban farming course this summer, during which 4th-5th graders at the school will learn in practice how to grow their own food. The course is free.

Each participant in the course receives their own growing box from a community garden located near the school, and three workshops (seedling workshop, planting and harvesting) are organized separately for participants through the school.

Otherwise, activities take place within the framework of the community garden's events. During the summer, every Wednesday from 3-6 pm at the Malminkartano community garden, a gardener will be on site to guide and help.

Parents of children are very welcome and encouraged to join in the activities. There are 12 places for the course, register for this first event and you will be included in the course.

1. The first meeting will be on May 6th from 2-4 pm at Malminkartano School, where there will be a Sowing Workshop, where students will receive seedlings to grow at home.
2. The second meeting will be on May 29th from 12-2pm at the Malminkartano community garden, where we will plant seedlings in growing boxes and celebrate the opening of the summer season.
3. The course ends in September with a joint harvest and preservation workshop at the school premises.

Each participant in the course receives their own cultivation box from the community farm located near the school. Two workshops are organized separately from the community farm on the school's premises (seedling workshop and harvesting).

Otherwise we are within the framework of the events of the community farm. During the summer, every Wednesday from 15.00-18.00 at Malminkartano's community farm, a gardener is there to guide and help.

Parents are very welcome to participate in the activities with the kids. Course is for 12 participants, sign up for this event and you are in for the whole course.

2. The second meeting is on May 29 from 12.00-14.00 at Malminkartano's community farm, when we will plant the seedlings in the cultivation boxes and celebrate the opening of the summer season.
3. The course ends in September with a joint Harvest and preservation workshop in the school premises.
